Hey all – SJ here!

We got new lipsticks which can only mean WEAR TEST TIME! We like to do wear test lippies we’ve bought just so we (and you) can see how long it lasts and when you’d need to reapply. We have tested a few now including  The Body Shop and Primark Lip Kits.

This lipstick comes from sophdoesnails‘ second collaboration with Revolution. They created 3 satin finish nude lipsticks:

“Fudge – chocolate brown nude
 Cake – pink nude
 Syrup – brown nude”

Having watched Soph’s YouTube videos, I know she’s really into nude lip shades so this collection is very her. We only bought the two darker shades because we didn’t fancy the lighter one. Here is what she said about the lipsticks (from Revolution website):

“The lipsticks match the palette very nicely. I wanted to create shades that would work for all skin tones. Syrup is perfect for all skin tones, it’s a classic brown nude. Cake is a pink nude, ‘my lips but better,’ shade. Fudge is inspired by my love for chocolate fudge cake. It’s a darker nude perfect for medium/deep skin tones. However fair skin tones can still wear this shade as a more vampy nude. I’m so happy with these.”

The lids of the lipsticks are rose gold with “Soph X” and that’s also imprinted on the actual lipstick itself. I’m not a big fan of the shiny lid as it gets dirty with finger prints so easily.

On to the test…. I have chosen the shade Fudge to test because I love a good dark nude shade! Like our previous tests, I only applied it once during the day. No touch ups, no lip balms or lip scrubs in between. And I finished the test when I felt like I needed to reapply. I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t have much hope this will stay long as it is a satin finish not a matte lipstick. So here is how the day went…

First Application – 9:48am

  • No scent – I personally like lip products that have a nice scent to it but that’s a personal thing.
  • It so creamy! It just glides on the lip so effortlessly.
  • Full pigment – I didn’t need to swipe across multiple times to get the opacity i wanted.
  • It does feel thick – unlike a liquid lipstick for example, where you can barely feel some on the lips but this you can feel. Not necessarily a bad thing  ut something to consider.
  • The tip of the lipstick is great for precise application – it’s quite thing at the end so it got the corners of my mouth easily.

Brunch(sort of) – 10:30am

img_9783So I went round my parents’ house in the morning and I did what ANY child would and raided the fridge for food, even though I don’t live there anymore… Coz let’s face it – Mum’s are the best cooks in the world and our mum is no exception!
She had this pancit (Filipino noodles) in the fridge so I cheekily helped myself to some.
I can’t be the only one that does this….RIGHT??!

I was not sure whether or not the lipstick would stay on – it wasn’t greasy but I was sure that the slurping would definitely affect the staying power.

After food – It stayed on!

It actually stayed on! Apart from the centre and inner part of my bottom lip, it still looks good and still looks like I have lipstick on right? Not as opaque as before but considering I didn’t expect it to stay on, I don’t think that’s half bad.

3 hours later – 12:48pm

  • The colour’s pretty much gone – BTW I was just going about my day, drinking water and I had cheese scone as a snack when I realised it was gone.
  • But my lips still felt nice and moisturised which was nice.

O V E R A L L

I knew that it wouldn’t stay on long as it isn’t a matte lipstick and to be fair it never claimed to have staying power so I’m not mad. I really liked how my lips felt throughout the day. When I had it on, my lips felt soft. Even when I didn’t have it on anymore, my lips still didn’t feel dry and I didn’t need to go and get my lip balm for moisture. Which I would ordinarily do when I’ve been using lipsticks. The one negative thing I want to say is the colour of Fudge. In Soph’s video and the description on the Revolution website, Fudge is supposed to be a chocolate brown nude. And that was one of the reasons why I bought it because I LOVE a deep brown colour as I feel it suits me a lot. But this comes off more terracotta brown on me. Not a bad shade and it does look nice on me but definitely not what I was expecting. I may have to try some more satin finish lipsticks because if they can all make my lips feel nice all day, then I am all for that!

See you guys next time!

peace&love❤️
