Hey all!

Sarah here! It’s been soooo long since our last DUPE TIME post but we have been collecting lots of things and comparing them. And here is today’s…..

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in LAX – $4.80

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in Carnivorous – £17.50

Colourpop’s website describes it as a “vampy red” and MAC’s describes Carnivorous as a “blackened red”.

As you can see on the lips, both shades are very similar. The only difference I did find when applying was the consistency and how it felt on my lips. Here’s what I found:

  • NEGATIVES: As it dries it seems to have this film over my lip and it feels like it is stretching my lip whenever I spoke.
  • It is super drying to me to the point where it was almost uncomfortable.
  • Compared to the MAC one, it felt like I had lipstick on. It wasn’t lightweight maybe because of how it was drying.
  • POSITIVES: It’s really hard to get off. Although that seems like it would be a negative, this means that it will last all day as it just clings onto the lip.
  • Dried really quick and there wasn’t any colour change once dried. Some liquid lipsticks do that but this one didn’t.
  • It’s cruelty free! So if you exclusively use cruelty free brands then give Coloupop a look.

  • NEGATIVES: It’s not cruelty free so keep that in mind.
  • As a drugstore fan, the price is just not for me. It’s just too much for me anyway.
  • POSITIVES: It’s lightweight and opaque. One dip covered my bottom lip and if I hadn’t have used the other lipstick on my top lip, it would have covered the top lip too.
  • Felt comfortable on. It didn’t feel super drying like the Colourpop one and it didn’t feel like I had lipstick on.

I’m actually quite shocked that, if I had to choose between the two, I would choose the MAC lipstick. Purely basing it on how it felt on my lips – MAC wins hands down. BUT I do know a lot of people who love the Colourpop formula and swears by it so do take that into account. I hope I have provided a good analysis of both that will help you decide which one to go for 🙂

Anyway, that’s all for now! See you next time!
