We were totally inspired by the beautiful Brooke Clarke after we read her Top 10 under £10 so we thought we would search through our makeup drawers and see what we could come up with. If you haven’t checked Brooke’s blog out yet, do check it out as she has some pretty looks and very good reviews too 😊.
Obviously the items on here are all from the drugstore – as you know we are hardcore drugstore lovers/cheapskates 😂
Ally #1 – New Look Matte Lipstick (Americano) £3.99
New Look lipsticks are pretty underrated I think! They are super moisturising on the lips for a matte lipstick. This particular one is called Americano and it’s a very reddish-brown shade – super pretty all year round. And it’s only £3.99!
Sarah’s #1 – Barry M Ready Set Smooth £5.99
Such a great powder to bake with! Because we are quite tanned, loose powder can be a bother just because we don’t ever want to risk any flashbacks when taking photos. But this doesn’t leave that white cast on the face which is so good. It is so finely milled that it just melts on the face. The only bad thing about this is that the lid is attached to base so getting the powder out is such a pain.
Ally’s #2 – Makeup Revolution Brow Pomade in Graphite £6
I’ve never tried a pomade before – usually stick to eyebrow pens or powders but I decided to try it. I also didn’t want to spend crazy money on pomade just in case it wasn’t for me, but because this was only £6 I thought why not? It’s creamy and really pigmented. I have quite thick brows so this is perfect not only for shaping but also to keep the hairs in place. It doesn’t rub off easily either which is ideal when I have long days at work or college.
Sarah’s #2 – NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream £6
I think everyone and their Aunt knows how much I love this lipstick! It’s comfortable, not drying and NYX have an array of different colours – I’m gonna stop here because like I said I’ve mentioned it too many times!
Ally’s #3 – That’s How I Roll Mascara £3.99 (price varies depending on the shop, the link is the cheapest I could find)
This mascara was a revelation when we tried it. We’d heard a few mixed reviews about Barry M mascaras so we were sceptical. But this actually could compete with our Rollerlash which we love. It separates and lengthens the lashes without it clumping up. Super nice!
Sarah’s #3 – Freedom Pro Eye Primer £2.50
I have a lot of love for this primer – we’ve tried more expensive ones like the Urban Decay and the Benefit ones and we just keep coming back to this. It’s affordable but also makes our eyeshadow last even during nights out. It’s a makeup bag staple.
Ally’s #4 – Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlight in Golden Lights £3
If you want a blinding golden highlight then this is what you slather all over your face, body – everywhere! The only bad thing about it is that it is a tad powdery but the overall result makes you kind of forget that. Also at £3 and considering the payoff, it’s really not bad.
Sarah’s #4 – MUA Pro Brow Ultimate Eyebrow Kit £3.50
Ally’s really into her pomade now but I am absolutely in love with my brow kit. It has 3 powders – the two darkest I use for great ombre brows. There is a pale/nude shade that’s apparently for highlighting the brow bone but it’s too nude for me and just wouldn’t work as a highlight. It also has a gel to set everything in place which I use. It’s just so easy to use and creates great brows for everyday.
Ally’s #5 – Soap & Glory Supercat Skinny £7
This is my go to whenever I want a wing liner. It is jet black and doesn’t smear around during the day. The skinny nib is also perfect for creating a sharp wing. I love it!
Sarah’s #5 – Soph X Makeup Revolution Eyeshadow Palette £10
This palette is just so great that it had to be in this list! It just made it as it is £10 but it does have so much! We use it for our eyes (obvs), brows and even contour – honestly just the best palette all around. We did review this so if you want to know more click here.
That’s all for now folks. We hope you like it and see you next time!
