A Little First Impressions || Looks

Hey there!

This look has a few first impressions. We tried Soph X Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palette – we were going to get her highlight palette too but we took one look at our highlighter drawer (yes our collection is that ridiculous that we needed to keep them in a separate drawer, anyone else?) and thought maybe not….yet.

We also tried MASQD brushes. We hadn’t heard anything about this brand before but Boots has released all their Christmas gift sets and we spotted this whilst buying our Christmas presents – we know it’s early, don’t judge us – and thought we’d try it out. We also used the Barry M Liquid Chrome Highlight Drops for the first time.

Now I didn’t get to use all of the brushes. By the time I realised I had to use the new brushes, I had already put on the base with our Real Techniques sponge so apologies for that but we will post a more up to date review of the products separately soon.

We used the Chrome Drops in the shade “Beam Me Up” and mixed it with our foundation to give that dewy look. I like mixing liquid highlight under foundation especially one this metallic because it just gives a beautiful glow to the skin. “Beam Me Up” seemed to reflect chunky, so it kind of made the skin look more textured than it really is especially around the forehead area of Ally’s face. So maybe next time we will use the other shades and see if it was just that particular shade or it’s just not meant to be used under foundation.

The MASQD brushes that we used were really good. The contour brush worked well because it was so small that it created a really precise contour which we liked. The Soph palette is beautiful and multi purpose for us. We layered a few colours in the palette (Iced Coffee, Cuppa Tea in the crease & Strawberry Sweet and Pumpkin to intensify the edges). We found Mixed Berries and Pink Champgne to have the most fall out compared to the other shimmers. It would probably work a lot better with fix spray. We used Mug Cake and Nightmare to create a nice ombre brow and the shade Pug was a GREAT contour shade for us. We aren’t great at contouring and it often looks muddy or just messy in general. So I guess a mixture of the MASQD brush and Pug helped make it look good for once!
